MEC Community Scholarship
A Partnership between MEC and the ACMG
MEC established this scholarship to assist aspiring mentors and leaders in climbing instruction, hiking guiding and mountain guiding fields, and further their personal and professional development through additional Training and Assessment Program courses and exams.
In keeping with MEC's mission to "inspire and enable everyone to lead active outdoor lifestyles," preference will be given to applicants who:
- have shown a commitment to providing outdoor recreation opportunities to vulnerable or marginalized communities in either a voluntary or professional capacity; or,
- are members of historically underrepresented communities within the ACMG, e.g. BIPOC or 2SLGBTQ+.
Eligible individuals will meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Be actively pursuing further ACMG training or certification
- Possess experience providing outdoor recreation opportunities to vulnerable or marginalized communities, in either a voluntary of professional capacity or identify as a member of the BIPOC or 2SLGBTQ+ communities
Selection Criteria
- Strength of application
- Strength of references
- Demonstration of financial need
Award
- ACMG Training and Assessment Program tuition credits: 5 awards of $1000 each
